In an emergency, every second matters. ASSTRA is a smart emergency safety application designed to help users quickly alert trusted contacts when normal phone interaction may not be practical. It provides multiple emergency activation methods, including manual SOS, a volume-button trigger, and offline voice activation. CORE FEATURES • Manual SOS — Start an emergency alert directly from the ASSTRA app. • Volume Button SOS — Use Volume Up → Volume Down → Volume Up → Volume Down to activate an emergency SOS. • Voice SOS — Say the configured emergency keyword “ASSTRA” to start the emergency SOS process using on-device voice detection. • Emergency SMS — Send SOS alerts to trusted emergency contacts saved in the app. • Location Sharing — Include available device location in emergency alerts when required permissions and services are available. • Offline Activation — Voice detection and the volume-button trigger use on-device processing and do not require internet access for detection. ACCESSIBILITY SERVICE ASSTRA uses Android’s AccessibilityService API specifically for its optional emergency volume-button SOS feature. After the user explicitly enables Accessibility Service through Android system settings, ASSTRA uses the service to detect the configured Volume Up → Volume Down → Volume Up → Volume Down sequence. When detected, ASSTRA can start its emergency SOS process, which may send an alert to saved emergency contacts and include available location information according to enabled permissions and device capabilities. AccessibilityService is used only to detect this specific emergency volume-button sequence. ASSTRA does not use AccessibilityService to read or modify content from other applications, record calls, or change device settings. Accessibility Service is optional. Users must explicitly enable it through Android settings and can disable it at any time. Other ASSTRA features can continue to be used without it. VOICE ACTIVATION ASSTRA can use on-device voice recognition to detect the configured emergency keyword “ASSTRA”. When detected, ASSTRA can initiate the emergency SOS process and notify saved contacts according to the user's settings and granted permissions. EMERGENCY SMS When SOS is activated, ASSTRA can send emergency SMS messages to trusted contacts saved by the user. Delivery depends on the device, SIM card, cellular network, Android restrictions, and required permissions. LOCATION SHARING ASSTRA can provide available location information during an emergency. Location access requires the appropriate permissions and available device location services. Availability may depend on GPS, network conditions, device settings, and Android restrictions. EMERGENCY CONTACTS Users can save trusted contacts who can receive emergency alerts. ASSTRA is designed to help users quickly notify their selected contacts during an emergency. PRIVACY & PERMISSIONS Depending on enabled features, ASSTRA may request microphone, SMS, location, contacts, camera, and Accessibility Service permissions. These permissions are used for the corresponding safety features. Accessibility Service is specifically used for the volume-button emergency trigger. IMPORTANT INFORMATION ASSTRA is an emergency assistance and notification tool. It is not a replacement for police, medical services, emergency services, or professional assistance. Feature availability depends on device hardware, Android version, system restrictions, permissions, cellular connectivity, location availability, battery settings, and other device conditions. Users should configure emergency contacts and test the available features before relying on ASSTRA.
