Bei einem Herz-Kreislauf-Stillstand zählen Sekunden. In Deutschland erleiden jedes Jahr Tausende Menschen den plötzlichen Herztod. In großen Städten, aber auch in ländlichen Gebieten benötigt der alarmierte Rettungsdienst oft neun Minuten oder mehr bis er den Patienten erreicht. Ein Netz von freiwilligen professionellen Ersthelfern, die bei Bedarf GPS-basiert zusätzlich über die Saving Life App gerufen werden können, noch bevor der Rettungswagen eintrifft, könnte das Überleben signifikant erhöhen. Die Überlebenschance des Patienten steigt nach jeder zusätzlich gewonnen Minute um 10%. Das Saving Life Projekt basiert darauf, dass freiwillige Helfer, die die App auf ihrem Smartphone installieren, über einen Notfall in ihrer Nähe durch die Leitstelle der Feuerwehr informiert werden und zum Einsatz schreiten. Hierdurch soll bei einem Notfall das sog. „Therapiefreie Intervall“ bis zum Eintreffen des öffentlich-rechtlichen Rettungsdienstes überbrückt werden. Je mehr freiwillige Helfer sich registriert haben, umso wahrscheinlicher ist, dass sich ein App-Retter in räumlicher Nähe des Notfalls aufhält und helfen kann. Aus diesem Grund registrieren auch Sie sich und helfen den Menschen in Not.
