Full description

Ether is a video-first dating app for the UK and Ireland. Instead of swiping through edited photos, you record a short video introduction, and so does everyone else. What you see is what you get. WHY VIDEO Photos are chosen and bios are written. Ten seconds of video shows the person: their voice, their energy, their humour. Every conversation on Ether starts from a real impression. HOW IT WORKS 1. Pass a quick real-person check. Everyone on Ether is 18 or over. 2. Record a 10-second intro, answering a prompt or freestyle. Retake as often as you like; only the one you send counts. 3. Go live for the window you choose: 3, 7 or 14 days. Pause whenever you want, and go live again any time. 4. Discover real people near you, in your area first. 5. Send a spark, with a short video reaction if you like. When a reaction is accepted, either way round, the chat opens. THE MAP Every region has its own page showing how close it is to coming alive. The first fifty people live in each region are its Founding Fifty, and that number stays on your profile. SAFETY FIRST • A selfie check on every account, using facial age estimation. No ID needed, and the photo is deleted straight after the check. • Every upload is checked against known child abuse imagery using Microsoft PhotoDNA, matching hashes only, plus image classification. Confirmed matches are reported to the NCA's CEOP and to NCMEC. • Report or block anyone from their card, their intro or a chat. • Photos in chat arrive covered until you choose to see them. • Human moderation with zero tolerance for abuse. ACCESSIBILITY Built to work with screen readers, larger text sizes and reduced motion, in light and dark themes, with contrast that meets WCAG AA throughout. PRIVACY Your recording stays private until you go live, and your intro comes down when its window ends or when you take it down. Delete your account from Settings at any time; everything is removed after a seven-day grace period. We never sell your data. Made by ARJL LTD in the UK. Read more at ether.dating.
