reSpoke - Read Messages Aloud

reSpoke reads your text messages and chat notifications aloud through your helmet intercom or car speakers, hands-free, so you never have to pull over or reach for your phone. It's a small floating button that sits on top of Google Maps, Waze, or whatever nav app you already use. Your map keeps running underneath. reSpoke only handles the audio. BUILT FOR RIDERS FIRST reSpoke started as a way to hear messages on a motorbike without taking a hand off the bars. Pair a Bluetooth helmet intercom (Cardo, Sena, or whatever your helmet uses) and it's completely hands-free: audio only, nothing to glance at. Not riding? reSpoke also works for: 🚗 Drivers: commuting or rideshare, with your car's Bluetooth or a phone mount. 🚶 Walking and cycling: earbuds, or the phone in your pocket. You pick a default mode during setup. Pro adds per-device switching: whichever Bluetooth device connected most recently decides the mode, so your helmet gets Rider and your car kit gets Driver without you touching anything. WHY A FLOATING BUTTON Most driving-mode apps want the whole screen. They replace your navigation with their own dashboard. reSpoke stays out of that. Drag the button wherever it suits you and tap it for mute, skip and replay. When a message arrives, reSpoke lowers your nav audio, announces who it's from, reads the message, then hands the audio back, so you don't miss a turn. Notification text is processed on the device and spoken by Android's built-in text-to-speech (TTS) engine. reSpoke has no backend, so there's no server to upload it to. reSpoke never asks for SMS permission. It reads incoming notifications through Android's notification access, so it can't reach your message history or your contacts. Anonymous usage analytics (screen views and button taps) help us see which features people use, and you can switch them off in Settings → Analytics. Crash reports are sent so we can fix bugs. Message text, sender names and conversation content are never collected. No advertising ID. No ads. PERMISSIONS, AND WHAT EACH ONE IS FOR • Notification access, to hear incoming messages. You grant it manually in system settings; it doesn't cover past notifications or SMS history. • Display over other apps, for the floating control above your map. • Foreground service, so reading continues with the screen off. A notification shows while it runs. • Bluetooth, for automatic start when a helmet or car kit connects (Pro). • Battery optimisation exemption, so Android doesn't pause the reader mid-ride. WHAT IT ISN'T This isn't Android Auto. reSpoke draws on your phone's own screen, which is why it works on a motorcycle, in a car with no head unit, or on foot. It doesn't replace your navigation app. It layers on top of it. It won't transcribe a spoken reply or send voice messages. Auto-replies are canned text only. Android only.
