Why play Memory Flash The maintenance of memory is an essential activity to preserve and improve one’s cognitive abilities. Indeed, memory is a dynamic function that is strengthened by practice and learning. By stimulating one’s memory regularly, one can increase one’s attention, concentration, speed of information processing and ability to memorize new data. Moreover, the maintenance of memory helps to fight against cognitive decline related to aging or certain diseases. Indeed, according to Dr. Douglas Scharre, director of the division of cognitive neurology at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, “cognitive stimulation is one of the ways to keep the brain healthy and potentially ward off symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease” . Dr. Van Wedeen, an associate professor of radiology at Harvard Medical School, and an assistant neuroscientist at Massachusetts General Hospital, also states that “memory is a dynamic process that involves the formation and reorganization of neural connections” and that “learning new things can enhance the brain’s plasticity and resilience” . Thus, the maintenance of memory is beneficial for the brain and for well-being.
