Automobile engineering uses the characteristics of various elements of engineering such as mechanical, electrical, electronic, software and safety engineering for the right blend of manufacturing and designing of automobiles. Introduction of Automobile Engineering Automobile engineering has gained recognition & importance ever since motor vehicles capable of carrying passengers have been in vogue. Now due to the rapid development of auto component manufacturers and automobile industries, automobile engineers are in great demand. Automobile Engineering, aka Automotive Engineering or Vehicle Engineering, is one of the most challenging careers in the field of engineering with a wides scope. This branch deals with the design, development, manufacturing, testing, and repair, and servicing of automobiles such as cars, trucks, motorcycles, scooters, etc., and related sub-engineering systems. What Do Automotive Engineers Do? Today automotive engineers work in every area of the industry, from the look and mechanism of cars to the safety and security of new forms of transportation. The major function of an automobile engineer is to design, develop, manufacture and test vehicles from the concept stage to the production stage. Automotive engineer is concerned with the development of passenger cars, trucks, buses, motorcycles, or off-road vehicles. They perform one or more of the following functions: - Design new products or modify existing products - Troubleshooting and resolving engineering problems - Plan and design manufacturing processes Scope of Automobile Engineering Among many professional fields in this day and age, Automobile Engineering is undoubtedly one of the most pursued professions by the young lot.
