Full description
Bookmetro helps you remember what you read. At the end of each chapter you answer your own question from memory — that is active recall — and your answers come back with spaced repetition until they stay. No summaries, no AI, no account. You read the book; Bookmetro helps you retain it. YOUR BOOKS AS A METRO MAP Every book is a numbered line and every chapter is a stop. You see where you are, how many stops are left and roughly how long they take. Mark each chapter read, skim or skip, depending on why you are reading the book. Review is the interchange: when cards are waiting, the map tells you. READ THE WAY YOU READ • EPUB, PDF and FB2 books open in the built-in reader, with a page view for PDFs. • Paper books: take a photo of the contents page and Bookmetro turns it into a list of chapters you can correct. The text is recognised on your phone. • E-reader highlights: Bookmetro imports Kindle highlights and notes (My Clippings.txt), and any of them can become a review card. • Easy reading mode: larger, bolder text at full contrast. ACTIVE RECALL AT THE END OF EACH CHAPTER Without looking back, ask yourself a question and answer it in your own words. Prompts help you start: What is the main idea? Why? How? Give an example. Writing the question yourself is part of the method — it works like a reading journal that asks you questions. SPACED REPETITION THAT COMES BACK AT THE RIGHT TIME Your answers return as cards on a spaced schedule: a day later, a few days later, a week, a month. You try to recall first, then see what you wrote and grade yourself. An optional reminder comes at most once a day, only when cards are due, at the time you choose. HIGHLIGHTS AND NOTES Highlight a passage while you read and add a note. At the end of the chapter your highlights are waiting: turn one into a card, with the highlight as the answer and your own question in front of it. WHAT STAYED: YOUR OWN NUMBERS Bookmetro measures how much of what you read you actually retain, from your own reviews: of the cards asked at least a day after you read, how many you recalled, split into 1–7, 8–30 and 31+ days since reading. No number until you have 10 answers, no estimates, no comparison with other people. Share the result as an image if you like. ALSO • Search your notes: every highlight, note, card and one-sentence summary you wrote, across all your books. • Archive finished or paused books. Their cards keep coming back for review. • Reading speed is shown only next to how much you remembered, never as a goal. • Light and dark themes. English and Turkish. THE SCIENCE, BRIEFLY Bookmetro is built on two of the best-supported findings about learning: trying to recall something works better than re-reading it (active recall, also called retrieval practice), and reviews spread out over time work better than reviews crammed together (spaced repetition). Writing the question yourself draws on the generation effect. Highlighting on its own does little for memory, so in Bookmetro a highlight is raw material for a card, not the end result. We do not promise that you will read faster or remember a fixed amount more; the app shows you your own numbers instead. PRIVATE BY DESIGN Your books, notes and answers stay on your phone. No account, no ads, no tracking, no cloud server. The core of the app works offline. PRICE Free for 2 books, with every feature. The full version unlocks unlimited books with a single one-time purchase. No subscription, no ads, ever.

What's new

The book's map keeps its name in the top bar as you scroll, with its cover and line badge, so you always know which book you are in. In page view, the bar and percentage at the end of a chapter no longer flicker.
