Full description
RN Basics is NCLEX-RN preparation built the way the exam works now. Created by an ICU nurse educator (BSN, CCRN, CEN), it gives nursing students and new graduates clinical-judgment case studies, Next Gen item types scored the way the exam scores them, an adaptive mock exam, and more than 1,200 practice questions with a full rationale for every answer choice. CLINICAL-JUDGMENT CASE STUDIES Unfolding cases across medical-surgical, pediatric, obstetric, mental health, emergency and long-term care. • Six linked items per client, one for each step of clinical judgment: recognize cues, analyze cues, prioritize hypotheses, generate solutions, take action and evaluate outcomes • Chart notes, vital signs and laboratory results that unfold as the case progresses, in tabs like the exam • Scored with partial credit, with a rationale for every choice you made • Results by clinical-judgment step show which part of your thinking to work on NEXT GEN ITEM TYPES Every format on the current test plan, with the exam's own scoring rules. • Highlight the cues in a chart note • Matrix tables, drop-down cloze sentences and select-N questions • Drag-to-order actions and bow-tie diagrams • Plus/minus, zero/one and rationale scoring, explained after every item ADAPTIVE MOCK EXAM A mock that behaves like the real thing. • 85 to 150 questions over up to 5 hours, drawn in the test plan's proportions across the eight Client Needs categories • Difficulty adapts to your answers, and the exam stops as soon as it is confident whether you are above or below the passing standard • Your ability estimate and a breakdown by category • Leave anytime and resume later; the timer pauses 1,200+ QUESTIONS ACROSS EVERY CLIENT NEEDS CATEGORY Management of Care, Safety and Infection Control, Health Promotion and Maintenance, Psychosocial Integrity, Basic Care and Comfort, Pharmacological and Parenteral Therapies, Reduction of Risk Potential, and Physiological Adaptation, in the proportions the test plan uses. SMART STUDY MODES • Daily Review: spaced repetition brings questions back right before you would forget them • Second tries and follow-ups: a miss returns at the end of the quiz, after a different question on the same idea • Trouble Questions: everything you have missed three or more times, in one drill • Level Up: 5 easier, 5 medium and 5 harder questions in your weakest category • Question of the Day, custom quizzes by category and difficulty, and timed quizzes • Missed Questions and Weakest Category sessions built from your own answers • Daily Reminders: a nudge at the time you choose DETAILED RATIONALES WITH SOURCES Every question explains why the correct choice is correct and why each wrong choice is wrong, and lists the references behind it, so you understand the pathophysiology, pharmacology and nursing judgment. RHYTHM STRIPS AND ONE-PAGERS • Rhythm Strip Drill: timed rounds of 10 ECG strips that sweep like a live monitor, with the key features explained after each one • 14 one-page summaries of high-yield topics, from sepsis, shock and ABGs to electrolytes, heart failure, DKA, transfusion, antidotes, burns, obstetric, newborn and pediatric emergencies, each with its sources STUDY CALCULATORS Dosage math for exam practice: drug doses, IV rates and weight-based dosing, each with the formula shown. For education only; always follow your institution's protocols. TRACK YOUR READINESS • Readiness by Client Needs category and by clinical-judgment step • Daily streak, overall accuracy and how much of the bank you have covered • Notes on any question, search across the whole bank, and a countdown to your exam date • Back up your progress to a file and restore it on a new device RN Basics is an independent study aid.
