Full description
Diamonds Egypt is a heat-transfer puzzle. Every level 🧗 is a block of polar ice with an artifact frozen inside it, and your job is to melt a path to the artifact without destroying it. This is not a tap 👆-to-progress 📈 game 🎮. Underneath every level 🧗 is a real two-dimensional heat-conduction solver with phase change, running live on a 96 by 96 lattice. When you set a burner down on the ice, heat actually diffuses outward, cell by cell. The ice melts along a genuine moving front. Meltwater conducts heat four times worse than ice, so a pool you fail to drain will blanket the block and stall your own progress. Salt lowers the melting point, so salted ice melts while everything around it stays frozen. Insulation works because the solver uses the harmonic mean of conductivity across a cell face, which is the real series resistance, not an average. THE TENSION Heat fast ⚡ enough to finish, but every second the artifact spends above its safe temperature is charged against it, and that damage is permanent. Artifacts are brass, bronze and copper: they conduct heat inward far better than the ice around them. The damage dial fills while the reading still looks safe, because the heat that did it was delivered a minute earlier. That lag is what you are steering. YOUR INSTRUMENTS - Burner: a narrow hot spot, 40 to 240 W, that you can drag ✋ across the ice while the solver runs - Radiant lamp: 300 W spread wide and shallow across a whole face - Insulation pad: wool, which drops edge loss from 12 to 1.5 W per square metre per kelvin - Salt: ten per cent by mass takes the melting point down to minus 8.1 degrees - Drain valve: empties standing meltwater so the front can advance again - Chiller coil: negative power, for holding an artifact under its safe line while you work elsewhere DRAG THE BURNER ✋ There is no commit button anywhere in the loop. Put a finger on a placed burner while the simulation is running and the field answers at frame rate: the isotherms bend behind your finger, the melt front follows, and the damage dial reacts as the spot nears the artifact. WON BY CONNECTIVITY, NOT BY PERCENTAGE A level 🧗 is not won at some arbitrary melted fraction. It is won the instant ⚡ the artifact is connected to open air through molten or drained cells, which is to say the instant it could physically be lifted out. Cutting one clean 🧼 channel beats melting the whole block. That is the puzzle. TWELVE ARTIFACTS A field compass, a ship's bell, a mariner's sextant, a pocket chronometer, a diving helmet, a telegraph key, an aneroid barometer, a photographic plate, a wax cylinder, a ship's logbook, a signal lantern and a theodolite. Each has its own safe temperature and its own tolerance. The wax cylinder holds four minutes of a voice and begins to lose its groove walls at thirty degrees; it is the most fragile thing in the field. ALSO INSIDE - Sandbox: every instrument unlocked, ambient temperature on a slider, no clock and no budget 💰 - Build 🔨 a block from a photograph: bright areas become warm, dark areas become deep ice - Run log 📝: every attempt recorded with the artifact's full temperature curve and the damage integral shaded under it - Materials reference: density, specific heat, conductivity and diffusivity for all seven materials - Method sheet: the actual flux equation, the enthalpy bands, the liquidus, the stability bound and the two simplifications the model makes, stated plainly COMPLETELY OFFLINE 📴 No account, no sign-in, no ads, no purchases, no analytics 📊, no tracking, and no network requests of any kind during play ▶️. Your progress 📈 lives on your device 📱 and nowhere else.
