Full description
Daru is a small indigo daruma, the Japanese wishing doll that always rocks back upright when it tips over. In Japan they say 七転び八起き: fall down seven times, get up eight. DaruGo is built on that idea. A wrong answer is just a wobble: the word comes back later, and you get a little steadier every day. Learn nearly 1,200 everyday Japanese words through short games, a few minutes at a time. 🏮 Japanese you can read from day one • Words are written in hiragana and katakana, and every new word shows its romaji reading • Your word list shows the kanji for words that have one • Every word and example sentence has Japanese audio; examples come with romaji and a translation • 22 everyday topics: greetings, food, family, travel, shopping, numbers, time, feelings… 🗾 From Tokyo to Fukuoka The Adventure map has more than 300 levels in 17 worlds: Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Mount Fuji, Yokohama, Hokkaido, Nara, Akihabara, Hiroshima, Okinawa, Sapporo, Kobe, Hakone, Kanazawa, Fukuoka and more. Every level opens with a handful of new words on audio cards, then hands them to a game. Three stars are up for grabs, every tenth level is a boss level, and a placement test lets you skip ahead. 🎮 18 games Word Race, Ship Voyage, Word Rain, Castle Defense, Diner, Word Blocks, Flying Bird, Word Snake, Meaning Link, Tteok Pop, Ghost Race, Live Race, K-pop Rhythm, Memory Cards, Balloon Festival, Bridge Run, Bingo and Taekwondo Master. Stop friendly little ghosts before they reach the castle, serve dishes and earn yen at the Diner, and run the Word Race all the way to the torii gate. 🧠 Every wobble counts Daru remembers the words that tripped you up and slips them back into your games when it's time, then waits a little longer after each right answer. Open "My Words" to search, see what's learned, in progress or due today, and run a short review. 🎎 Play together (optional) Got a Google account? Sign in and you can climb a weekly league, trade friend codes, send duels, post a Daily Challenge score and race other players in Live Race; your progress gets a cloud backup as well. Guests can skip all that and still play everything else, with progress stored on the phone. ⛩️ A little every day • One tap starts today's 5 minutes • Keep a daily streak; an optional 8 pm reminder helps • Three new quests every day and a reward that grows over 7 days • Japanese titles from chibikko (little one) to shōgun and beyond, plus XP and badges • Hats, glasses and frames for Daru in the shop • A Word of the Day widget for the home screen Worth knowing • Free with ads: an occasional full-screen ad between games, and rewarded ads that only play when you choose them • Most games play offline (leagues, duels and live races are online) • Light, gray or dark theme • Menus in 9 languages: English, Turkish, Spanish, Portuguese, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Thai, Russian and French いくぞ! Let's go!
