Full description
A bridge is a structure built to move persons and objects from one place to another. It is used to make traveling and transporting easier over water bodies and other places. But besides making living and regular jobs convenient. What some of these bridges have in common is their uniqueness. Without bridges, vehicles would get stuck in certain parts of the world. A bridge is a structure built to span physical obstacles without closing the passage underneath for valleys, dams, or roads. Bridges consist of various designs that serve a purpose and apply to different situations. The designs vary according to the function of the bridge. As well as the nature of the terrain where builders construct the bridge. The earliest bridges were fallen trees and stepping stones while Neolithic people-built boardwalk bridges across marshlands. The Arkadiko Bridge in Peloponnese, southern Greece, dates back to the 13th century BC and is one of the oldest arch bridges still in existence and use. Several types of bridges exist such as fixed or movable double-decked, bean, or arch bridges. With the advent of technology, architects have become savvier with designs. The traditional flat bridge with white paint has become dull as architects compete to design an eccentric structure. While many designs are a sight for sore eyes. Some architects veered too far from the norm. Their designs were so eccentric that many people were left scratching their heads. To find out which bridges looked surreal. We gleaned photos from across the globe. Our search led us to discover bridges that most people would not believe if they did not see photos. When mankind started building bridges nobody could imagine. The heights they would reach. But man-made the impossible is possible and built bridges in the most unimaginable places. Some of them are so dangerous that the mere thought of walking these scariest bridges around the world would send chills down your spine. The moment you take the first step on these petrifying structures you experience vertigo a tingling sensation caused because of the fear of heights. These bridges have made even the radical atheists remember their god. The Octavio Frias de Oliveira Bridge is a cable-stayed bridge in São Paulo Brazil over the Pinheiros River. The bridge deck is unusual due to its form, which is similar to an X crossing at the tower. At the end of December, lights are put up on the cables and illuminated to create color effects like those on a Christmas tree. Built by the Danish architecture firm Gjode & Povlsgaard Arkitekter for Sculpture by the Sea 2015 a festival celebrating the scenic coastal landscape surrounding the city of Aarhus Denmark. Infinite Bridge is a circular walkable structure that spans from the sandy shore out to sea elevated just above the surface of the water depending on the tide according to Design Boom. The wooden bridge, which is located where a historic jetty once stood measures 623 feet in circumference and about 197 feet in diameter. It provides 360-degree views of various landscapes, from the port city on the horizon to the seaside to the beach and the forest inland says in habitat. The bridge is also known as the “Blinking Eye Bridge” due to its tilting nature from one side to another and its shape. Gates head Millennium Bridge allows pedestrians and cyclists to pass when on one side. On the other side when it is tilted it allows boats and ships to pass underneath it. To let boats pass underneath, the bridge has a system that controls six hydraulic rims. These rims can pivot the bridge’s walkway at a 40-degree angle. It takes about four and a half minutes to open and close the bridge. Bridges usually aren’t tourist destinations but these unusual and stunning designs are without a doubt worth visiting. Lastly, with so many bizarre and unusual bridge designs it now seems like the architecture and designers are in some sort of race to make the strongest bridge.
