Sessionist - Irish Music

Learn the tunes everyone knows, build your repertoire, and prepare yourself with confidence to join a real Irish traditional music session. Sessionist listens to you playing along with other instruments, at your own speed, and guides your practice until you can play that tune at 100% with no mistakes. That's when the tune gets added to your session repertoire. Put enough tunes into your repertoire and you'll be ready to try a real world session. TWO WAYS TO PLAY EVERY TUNE Learn — the right notes in sequence, with no timing pressure. See each note, find it on your instrument, and build the muscle memory of each part of the tune. Practice — play along in time. Start at 25% speed, move toward 100% as your confidence grows, and chase a perfect score at session speed. INSTRUMENTS Fiddle, tin whistle, Irish flute, low whistle, uilleann pipes, mandolin and concertina. COMMUNITY Over-16s can add up to 50 friends. Share performances, tunes and playlists, and see each other's activity and achievements on the leaderboards. Community ratings of the different versions of a tune guide you towards what's considered good. Add your own ratings to decide what you like best. Sessionist relies on audio guides contributed by players — performances that earned a perfect score. They play alongside your practice to help you keep pace and time. BUILT ON THE LIVING TRADITION Tunes come from TheSession.org, the open community database Irish musicians have been building together for decades — reels, jigs, hornpipes, slip jigs, polkas and more, with the settings people actually play. Whether you are learning your first jig on the tin whistle, working up a set of reels on the fiddle, or bringing a hornpipe up to session speed on the Irish flute, Sessionist practises with you until the tune is yours. FAIR BY DESIGN No ads. No selling your data. Your music stays yours. No AI training. No AI sounds.
