Full description

Vellum is a private, local-first journal with a reflective AI that lives entirely on your device. Nothing syncs. Nothing is sent. Nothing is watched. Most journaling apps quietly send your most personal writing to someone else's servers. Vellum doesn't — because it can't. There is no backend, no account, and no analytics. Your words have nowhere to go but the page. YOURS ALONE, BY DESIGN Every entry lives only on this device, in encrypted on-device storage. No servers, no sign-in, no telemetry, no cloud sync. We never see a word you write. REFLECTION THAT STAYS ON THE PAGE Gentle daily prompts, quiet entry reflections, mood trends, and recurring-theme insights are all computed on your phone by a small language model. The model downloads once, then works offline forever. ENCRYPTED, AND LOCKED TO YOU Entries and attachments are AES-256 encrypted at rest, with the key sealed in your device's secure hardware. Open Vellum with your fingerprint, face, or passcode. A WRITING SURFACE THAT HOLDS STILL A calm editor with curated mood glyphs, color tags, autosave, a live word count, and inline photos, video, and audio. MORE TO HOLD YOUR DAYS - On This Day quietly resurfaces past entries. - Tag entries with a place and browse them on a map (offline by default). - A private chat to reflect with, or to shape your day into an entry. YOURS TO KEEP, YOURS TO MOVE Export any entry or your whole journal as Markdown, JSON, or PDF. Back up, passphrase-encrypted, only to a destination you choose. PAY ONCE. NO SUBSCRIPTION. Start with a 10-entry free trial. Unlock Vellum forever with a single one-time purchase. No recurring charges, ever. Privacy you can verify, not just trust. It's your journal, on your phone, and it stays there. Privacy policy: https://vellums.top/privacy

What's new

A calmer, quicker Vellum. • On-device AI chat now streams its reply as it writes — with a Stop control whenever you'd like it to pause. • A short, interactive welcome tour to help you settle in. Skip it anytime. • Clearer, higher-contrast text and mood glyphs, easier on the eyes. • A quiet way to rate Vellum from Settings, if it's earned a place with you. Everything still stays on your phone. No accounts, no tracking. Pay once.
