Full description
Translaty turns speech into translated text while the person is still talking — and it does the whole job on your phone. No cloud. No account. No API key. After the one-time setup download you can leave the device in airplane mode forever and it keeps working. Your audio is never recorded, never uploaded and never leaves the device. WHAT IT DOES • Live transcription and translation. Words appear as they are spoken, not after the sentence ends, and the translation grows with them. • Mixed-language conversations. Translaty listens for several languages at once, works out which one is actually being spoken, and shows everything in the single language you chose to read. The speaker can switch language between sentences. • Share with the room. One phone listens and opens a channel; everyone else joins with a five-character code and reads along, each person in their own language, over your local Wi-Fi. No server, no internet, no sign-up. LANGUAGES Listen to: English, French, Portuguese, Spanish, German, Italian, Dutch, Turkish. Read in: all of those plus Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Hindi, Polish and Ukrainian. WHERE IT HELPS • A conversation where you and the other person do not share a language • A talk, a class or a service where the room needs subtitles in several languages at once • Travel, appointments and site visits, anywhere the signal is unreliable • Following along when someone speaks faster than you can parse WHAT TO EXPECT Each language you want to listen to downloads about 154 MB the first time you pick it, plus a smaller translation pack for each language you read. That happens once, over Wi-Fi, and then it is yours. Older hardware is fine: on a 2017 Galaxy Note 8 it still runs faster than real time with three languages loaded. Translaty needs the microphone while it is listening and keeps a notification up the whole time, so you always know when it is on. Recognition is good, not perfect. Accents, crosstalk and background noise cost accuracy, and the app drops output it cannot trust rather than printing plausible nonsense. PRIVACY The app collects nothing. No analytics, no advertising, no account, no identifiers. The only network access is downloading language models during setup. On a live channel the text goes straight to the other phones on your own Wi-Fi and nowhere else. Translaty is free, and nothing in it is locked behind a payment. If it is useful to you there is a donation link in Settings.

What's new

• Translations can be read aloud by a natural voice that runs on your phone • Switches between languages mid-conversation with no pause • New light theme (dark still in Settings) • Save or share several recordings at once • Simpler Settings and many fixes
