Full description
Breaking World News follows the day across twenty-three newsrooms and institutional feeds, grouped into eight sections, and shows you plainly who wrote what. BREAKING The alert at the top rotates through what is happening right now, with a live timeline underneath. Every item carries the newsroom that published it and the time it appeared. COMPARE COVERAGE Hold a story and see the same event as several newsrooms titled it, one under another. The differences between headlines are often the story itself. EIGHT SECTIONS World, US, Europe, Asia, Middle East, Africa and Latin America, each with its own sources, plus Alerts for institutional public-safety feeds. Follow the sections and topics you care about and get a quiet local alert when something lands, with quiet hours so the night stays yours. WHILE YOU READ When new stories arrive, a small bubble tells you how many. The list never moves under your finger; you decide when to jump to the top. A line marks where you had read up to. OFFLINE The last edition stays on the phone. Headlines, sources and search work without a connection. WHAT IT DOES NOT DO No ads. No tracking. No accounts. No data collection of any kind. Articles open at the newsroom that published them; we do not copy their content. Newsrooms include BBC News, The Guardian, Sky News, NPR, CBS News, ABC News, The Hill, DW, France 24, Politico Europe, Euronews, SCMP, Times of India, Al Jazeera, Al-Monitor, BBC Africa, France 24 Africa, BBC Latin America and France 24 Americas. The Alerts section carries public feeds from institutions, with their required credits shown in the app: earthquake data from the U.S. Geological Survey, Earthquake Hazards Program (public domain); disaster alerts from the Global Disaster Alert and Coordination System (GDACS), a joint service of the European Commission Joint Research Centre and UN OCHA; humanitarian updates from ReliefWeb, a service of UN OCHA. These institutions do not endorse this app. Contact: https://atomtech.ro/contact-breaking.html

What's new

Breaking burst alerts can actually fire now. The app looked for a burst once every two hours but only counted the previous 45 minutes, so most of the timeline was never examined. It now checks every 45 minutes, over a window that covers the gap. Settings explain the alert: one notification when several newsrooms cover the same story within the hour, at most one every three hours, never during quiet hours. It stays off until you turn it on. Feeds load faster.
