Full description
Nook is an offline sanctuary of sensory tools you can pick up or put down without consequence — a room to put the weight down for a while, not another system to keep up with. nook is a rebellion against speed, noise, optimization, and disconnection. When the digital world feels too loud, too fast, too overwhelming and demanding, nook offers an offline refuge with no streaks, no notification, and no accounts. A space to land, to put the weight down. Created by someone with firsthand lived experience with autism (ASD), adult ADHD, and sensory burnout, nook combines psychology-informed thinking with gentle, minimalistic, neurodivergence-aware design. It is intended to feel like an experience first and a product second—with autonomy, emotional safety, meaningful engagement, and freedom from unnecessary stimulation at the center. A SPACE BUILT FOR DIFFERENT NERVOUS SYSTEMS Most software carries an assumption that everyone regulates the same way—pushing streak counters, daily reminders, virtual pets that need feeding, and forced positivity. A pet that needs feeding is just a demand disguised as care. For nervous systems that run differently—including those navigating Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD), time blindness, executive dysfunction, or sensory overload—these "helpful" tools can trigger shame and spiral into burnout. nook asks nothing from you, tracks nothing, and gives you space to exist without digital noise or performance pressure. ROOMS & UTILITIES INSIDE NOOK • Quiet Mode One tap from the homescreen opens straight to a dim, wordless space. Designed for acute overwhelm, meltdowns, or sensory shutdown—when choosing between two options is already too much to ask. • Brain Dump & Thought Organization Offload spinning thoughts into an open workspace as free text or voice journaling. Keep it or let it go. No strict formatting rules, no required dates, no pressure, and no judgment. • Shame-Free Time-Blindness Bar A visual bar that quietly empties as a deadline nears and simply resets when it passes. No red banners, no countdown fonts, and no missed-streak guilt. • Quiet Companion & Co-Presence The Companion room holds a customizable Pomodoro timer with a sleeping animal that never reacts to you, offering quiet co-presence while you work. • Tune Down & Digital Stimming Box breathing anchors, a tactile resonant stim pad, bubble popping, and calming doodle tools built for sensory overload whenever your nervous system needs a release valve. • Nonverbal Communication Cards A library of quick-access cards for moments of sensory shutdown, burnout, or when speaking itself becomes inaccessible. Show what you need without explaining. • Soundscapes & Brown Noise Soothing brown noise, gentle rain, wind, and generative ambient audio crafted for deep focus, reading, bedtime, or tuning out background noise. • Reflect & Calm Inquiry Prompted journaling and thoughtful inquiry for emotional regulation and self-compassion, practiced at your own pace with zero forced positivity. • Private Memory Chest An offline diary for thoughts, moments, and entries you choose to keep, stored securely on your local device. DEMAND-FREE BY DESIGN • 100% Offline & Private: No accounts, no sign-ins, no cloud databases, and no tracking. Your personal entries, notes, and voice recordings stay strictly on your device. • Zero Triggers & Zero Guilt: No ads, no intrusive notifications pulling you back in, no streak counters, and no dopamine traps. nook isn't meant to compete for your attention—it's the landing pad when the world is too loud. Take what you need. Leave what you don't. nook is here when you need a quiet place to land, and asks nothing of you when you don't - for sensitive days, ordinary days, and everything in between. ___________________ Note: nook is an offline sensory utility and personal relaxation space. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, or replace professional healthcare.
