Full description
The First Claim is the Bible study I needed when I first started asking questions about Jesus. You don't need to know your way around a Bible, and you don't need to pretend you're convinced. Start with what can be checked. Jesus lived in a real place and time. We begin with the world around him, the documents that survive, his crucifixion, the empty tomb and what happened afterwards. History can take us some distance. When it runs out of road, I'll tell you. Then open the Bible. Stay with Jesus in the Gospels for a while. Watch what he does with people and listen to what he says. There is forgiveness and welcome here, but there are warnings and commands too. Some of it is difficult. It stays in. From there the study gets wider. The cross and resurrection, what Jesus says about himself, prayer, temptation, failure and what following him actually looks like. Eventually we end up back in the Old Testament, looking at things written long before Jesus was born. Some connections are explicit. Others aren't. The point isn't to make every verse say something spectacular. It's to read what is there. Read or listen at your own pace. Every study has audio and the main material works offline. You can change the text size and playback speed, switch between Paper and Night and keep listening when you leave the app. There's also a Bible verse widget for your home screen. Its verses work offline and you can change how it looks. The Sermon on the Mount, Matthew 5-7, is included in full. No account. No payment. No ads. No tracking. What's included • Bible study covering Jesus Christ, Christianity, history and Scripture • Historical background and evidence around Jesus • The Gospels, Old Testament and New Testament • Audio for every study • Offline reading and listening • Bible verse home-screen widget • The Sermon on the Mount in full • Tappable Bible and source references • Adjustable text size and playback speed • Paper and Night reading modes • Background audio playback • Reading progress stored on your device
