Full description
Scanleaf is a free document scanner for your phone. Point the camera at a page and you get a clean, straightened PDF — with the text on it recognised, so you can search it later. No account, no watermark, and no limit on how much you scan. It works offline. Scanning, OCR, making PDFs and searching all happen on your device. WHAT IT DOES • Scan to PDF with automatic edge detection and auto-capture • Straightens the page and removes the shadow your own hand casts on it • Six filters: Original, Document, Colour, Grey, Black & White and Whiteboard • Multi-page documents — add pages, reorder by dragging, retake or delete any page • Save as PDF, or export JPG images • OCR text recognition in English and Hindi, running entirely on your phone • Search finds words inside your scans, not just filenames • Copy the recognised text out of any page • Image to PDF: import photos you already took and turn them into a document • Share straight to WhatsApp, Gmail, Drive or anywhere else A SCANNER, NOT A SUBSCRIPTION Scanleaf is a PDF scanner you own, not one you rent. No sign-up. No free trial that expires. No watermark stamped across your documents. No cap on pages per month. A single small banner on the library screen pays for the app — there are no full-screen ads, and none at all while you are scanning, editing or saving. YOUR SCANS STAY ON YOUR PHONE Your documents are never uploaded, never indexed on a server, and never shared with anyone. Turn on aeroplane mode and the whole app still works — the only thing you lose is the banner. Scanleaf has no permission to use your camera, your files, your photos, your location, your contacts or your microphone. You can check that yourself in Settings → Apps → Scanleaf → Permissions. The scanner runs inside Google Play services, so that app's camera permission is used rather than ours, and when you export, Android's own file picker asks where to put the file and grants access to that one file only. EXPORTED PDFs ARE CLEAN No producer string, no device name, no location, no timestamps identifying you. A scan of your passport should not carry your phone's fingerprint, so it doesn't. WHY THIS EXISTS Microsoft retired Microsoft Lens from both app stores in February 2026 and switched off scanning the following month. Its suggested replacement saves only to cloud storage and requires an account. Scanleaf is for the people who just wanted a free scanner that saved a file to their phone. GOOD TO KNOW • Requires Google Play services for the camera scanner. On devices without it you can still import photos and turn them into PDFs. • Scans are stored inside the app, so uninstalling removes them. Settings has "Export all documents" to keep a copy wherever you choose. • Searchable text inside exported PDFs covers Latin scripts. Hindi text is always readable and copyable inside the app under "Scanned text". Made by Navritto.
