Full description
Lechem is the companion a Jew keeps in his pocket for the holy things he does every day — the blessings, the davening, the learning. It carries them for you, so you never have to be an expert. If you can tap a screen, Lechem is yours. Signing in is there when you want it — that one step needs a connection, and Lechem has no sign-up of its own, so it is an account you already have. The words themselves are on the phone: no signal is needed to say a bracha or open the siddur. THE HUNDRED BLESSINGS A Jew makes about a hundred brachos a day, and Lechem carries them — and where it does not yet hold a text to the standard it sets itself, it names that on the screen rather than show you a guess. Tell it what is happening — you are about to eat, you woke up, you saw a rainbow — and it gives you the exact words, pointed and clear. At the top of the screen your count climbs toward a hundred: a gentle, private notice of your day, never a score anyone else sees. EVERY BRACHA, IN THE MOMENT Holding a food and not sure? Lechem tells you the blessing — before and after — with the right words added for Shabbos and Chanukah. THE SIDDUR THAT KNOWS THE TIME Morning prayers in the morning, evening prayers at night. Tehillim, the machzor for the Yomim Noraim, and the tefillos of the day, ready when you open them. THE WHOLE TORAH IN YOUR POCKET The Chumash and the entire Tanach — all twenty-four books — Chitas and Shnayim Mikra each day, in a beautiful, readable Hebrew type. YOUR DAY, UNDERSTOOD Zmanim for where you are, candle lighting, the parsha, the Jewish date, the fast days, and the Omer in its season — quietly, exactly when you need them, never nagging. YOUR PEOPLE The names you daven for, the people you carry in mind, the yahrtzeits you keep, the tefillos to say at a kever, and your own good resolutions. Lechem holds them and reminds you, gently. TAHARAS HAMISHPACHA Lechem holds the record of the days and the harchakos that go with it. Those dates are a private record of a cycle. They stay on this phone only - never in the app’s export, never in its backup, never sent anywhere. As with anything touching halacha, Lechem offers it softly and points you to your Rav. GENTLE, ALWAYS Lechem never makes you feel bad. No guilt, no streak to shame you, no ranking. Anything that touches halacha it offers softly and points you to your Rav — it is a helper and a reminder, never a ruling. PRIVATE BY BUILD, NOT BY PROMISE Your practice lives on your phone. There is no advertising, no tracking and no analytics of any kind — the app has no code that reports what you do. Two things carry anything about you off this phone, and each one because you did something: sending a feedback report, where the app shows you on that screen exactly what the report carries; and signing in, which sends the email address you sign in with. The app can also fetch a new version or a language pack, on the screens where you ask it to — those requests carry nothing about you. Your password is not kept on this phone. COMING AS LECHEM GROWS Some of the vision is still being built, and this listing will not pretend otherwise. Signing in is built and the form is live — but the other half is not switched on, so your practice does not follow you to another phone or to the web today. A few texts are deliberately held back rather than shipped incomplete — Ya'aleh v'Yavo, the Rosh Chodesh addition to bentching, is one — and Lechem names each one where you would look for it instead of showing you a shortened version. Circles are your own private record of the groups you belong to; actually sharing them with your shul or chaburah, and counting together, is still to come. Speaking to Lechem understands a short, printed list of phrases, not open conversation. All of it is on the way. Lechem carries the words so every Jew can say them — at home, on the go, alone or together, all day, every day.

What's new

Chitas opens on today: the day's aliyah and Tehillim, and the Tanya shiur named, with a swipe between days. Daf Yomi has its own tile on the Learn shelf and in More. Where you live (Eretz Yisroel or chutz la'aretz) can now be answered. Someone from Eretz Yisroel who is in chutz la'aretz stays closed on the second day of Yom Tov. For one who keeps one day of Yom Tov, Davening and the Calendar show Eretz Yisroel's days. Visiting Eretz Yisroel for Yom Tov: choose two days, one day, or ask your Rav.
