Full description
Is tonight worth setting up the telescope? Incaelo tells you in five seconds: a score from 0 to 10 and one word that sums it up, for your site and the time you pick, tonight or any night this week, hour by hour. A forecast that makes nothing up. Clouds by layer, transparency and seeing, which is an estimate and never a measurement. Incaelo sets two weather models side by side, a global one and a regional one, and when they disagree it says so. You always see how old the forecast is. Your real horizon. Terrain is sampled at about 200 points up to 10 km around your site: if a mountain hides an object, Incaelo knows. Light pollution (the Bortle scale) is estimated for each site. What to see with your gear. Choose naked eye, binoculars, a small or a large telescope, and the list follows. Over 1,800 deep-sky objects, 1,138 of them with a photo, each with its altitude curve and the best window of the night. The sky map follows your compass and carries over 25,000 stars, plus nearly 850,000 more as you zoom in. The week night by night, two sites side by side, and a sky calendar with meteor showers, eclipses, conjunctions, planets and the Moon, with a reminder the day before if you want one. And the "A night worth observing" alert: at most once a day, worked out on your phone, at an approximate time. A real red mode: the whole app in red on true black, so you keep your night vision. Offline: the catalogues, the map and the positions of the Sun, the Moon and the planets always work; the forecast needs a connection, and the last one is kept. Privacy: no account and no ads. Your site's coordinates are sent only to the weather and map services, so the forecast and the score can be as accurate as possible. Anonymous error reports and anonymous usage statistics are sent to spot failures and improve the app; you can turn either off in Settings. Free and ad-free: every feature of the app is open to everyone.

What's new

A cleaner home screen: the colour strip at the bottom already shows the night's best hours.
