Full description
Most backup apps show you that they're running. Few show you whether it worked. FilesToNAS copies folders from your phone to your own NAS over SMB — a Synology, a QNAP, a home server, any SMB2/3 share on your network. No cloud service in between, no account, no subscription. Your files land in a folder you picked, in their original format, and you can open them without this app. ■ HOW IT WORKS 1. Pick a folder on your phone, DCIM for example. 2. Enter your NAS destination: host, share, target folder, username and password. Presets are ready for Synology and QNAP. 3. Run the backup — once, or on a schedule. ■ YOU KNOW WHERE YOU STAND Backup Health shows, per profile, when the last backup actually finished, how long it took and what was transferred. If a scheduled run is overdue you get a notification — and it tells you the difference between a real failure, waiting for Wi-Fi, and a run that Android postponed. A missed run is not presented as a failure, because usually it isn't one. If Android has excluded the app from background work, the app says so and takes you to the right system setting. That is exactly where backups otherwise sit broken for weeks without anyone noticing. ■ ADDITIVE, NEVER DELETING Delete a photo on your phone and the copy on your NAS stays put. FilesToNAS does not mirror, it accumulates. What has been backed up does not disappear because you tidied up your phone. ■ SCHEDULE From 15 minutes to 24 hours, on active Wi-Fi only. New profiles start at six hours. Android does not run background work to the minute — the app says so plainly instead of promising punctuality the system does not deliver. ■ PRO A one-time purchase, no subscription. It unlocks multiple backup profiles, automatic scheduled backups over Wi-Fi, and the Synology and QNAP presets. ■ WHAT THIS APP CANNOT DO The SMB library it uses does not encrypt the files in transit. The connection and login use SMB2/3 with message signing and NTLMv2, but the confidentiality of the contents depends on your network. On your own home network that is normal; over someone else's Wi-Fi you should not do it. ■ TECHNICAL SMB2/3 with message signing and NTLMv2. The diagnostic export contains no credentials, no NAS addresses and no file paths. The open-source libraries used are listed inside the app. FilesToNAS is for people who run their own storage and want to know whether last night's backup actually ran.

What's new

New look: a cleaner, calmer design with new typography, a new app icon and a dark theme that follows your phone's setting. Text is easier to read, including at larger font sizes. Your profiles and how backups work are unchanged.
