Full description
Most prank apps in this category show a picture of a dead screen. That is why they get spotted in about five seconds. A phone going flat is not a picture. It is a sequence, and this app plays the whole thing. WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENS It does not jump to nothing. The battery falls the way a real one falls, faster as it gets lower. The warnings arrive when they should, in the wording the phone would use. The screen dims a step at a time rather than all at once. Then it goes, and pressing the power button brings up the empty battery glyph for a moment before the screen drops back to black, exactly the way a genuinely flat phone answers you. AND THEN THEY PLUG IT IN This is the part every other app in the category gets wrong, and it is the reason to choose this one. A flat phone does not wake up when the cable goes in. It shows the charging glyph, sits there, and takes its time. So does this. Plugging in is usually the moment the joke falls apart. Here it is the moment it becomes convincing. SIX PHONE STYLES The empty battery screen is not the same on every phone. Six styles are included, drawn to match what different manufacturers actually show, so the screen your friend is looking at is the one their own phone would give them. TWO TAPS TO SET IT UP Choose the style, choose how fast it drains, start it, and hand the phone over. Nothing else to configure unless you want to. MATCH MY PHONE One tap sets the style and the starting level to suit the phone you are holding, so you are not explaining why the battery jumped from eighty percent to nine. YOUR OWN HOME SCREEN BEHIND IT Import a screenshot of the home screen it should be standing on, and the warnings appear over it instead of over a stock backdrop. It is the difference between a prank that looks like an app and one that looks like a phone. SOUND The low battery tone, at the right moments, and nothing else. It can be turned off. YOU CAN ALWAYS GET OUT A gesture you choose ends the prank at any point, including once the screen has gone dark and stopped responding to taps. There is also a hard time limit, so it can never be left running by accident. The prank always ends, and it ends by saying what it was. WHAT IT DOES NOT DO It does not touch the real battery. It cannot drain it, charge it, damage it or change it in any way, and it does not try. It cannot change the real status bar, because no app on Android can. There is no fake virus, no fake data loss, and no message telling anybody their phone is broken. It draws a screen, it plays a sequence, and then it stops. PRIVATE BY DESIGN Everything runs on the phone. No account, no sign in, and the screenshot you import stays where it is. This is an entertainment app. It is a joke, it says so when it finishes, and it is meant for people who will find it funny.
