Steady: Quit Porn, Pause Now

When an unwanted porn urge hits, Steady helps you create space for the next choice—in one tap, without a streak to protect or a form to finish. Steady is a private, evidence-informed self-help companion for adults who want to reduce or stop unwanted pornography use. It supports the moments before, during, and after an urge with practical tools that work without an account. PAUSE IN ONE TAP Start a calm guided Pause immediately. Follow paced breathing, change your setting, and use the response you prepared while clear-headed. Logging is optional and comes afterward. PREPARE BEFORE THE URGE Write a specific if–then response, add small environmental barriers, keep a kind note to yourself, and prepare a message for someone you trust. Steady opens a prefilled message for your review; it never sends one automatically. ANDROID SHIELD & ACCESSIBILITYSERVICE API Android Shield is an optional feature that adds a pause before apps you choose. If you turn it on, Steady uses Android’s AccessibilityService API to detect the package identifier of the app currently in the foreground, including while Steady is closed. When that identifier matches an app you selected, Steady displays your private pause screen. The AccessibilityService does not read or collect screen content, passwords, messages, text you type, browsing content, URLs, taps, or interaction history. It cannot retrieve window content. Foreground app identifiers are processed only on your device. Your selected app identifiers are stored only in Steady’s private on-device storage; this AccessibilityService data is not transmitted, sold, or shared. You must explicitly agree to the in-app disclosure and enable Steady Shield in Android Accessibility settings. You can decline, turn off Shield, or revoke Accessibility access at any time. Steady is not an accessibility tool and does not claim to support a disability; the API is used only for this user-controlled Android Shield feature. BUILD SKILLS, NOT STREAKS Practice six useful capabilities: Notice, Prepare, Pause, Redirect, Return, and Learn. A difficult day does not erase previous practice. Optional check-ins help you notice patterns around sleep, stress, mood, connection, cues, and time of day. RETURN WITHOUT SHAME If you act on an urge, come back honestly. Record only what feels useful, learn from the conditions around the moment, and choose one small next step. There is no purity score, public leaderboard, or streak reset. SHORT LESSONS, REAL SOURCES Turn evidence-linked lessons into manageable experiments. Steady avoids fixed-day “brain reset,” dopamine-detox, cure, and guaranteed recovery claims. PRIVATE BY DESIGN Your notes, plans, and reflections are stored in an encrypted vault on your device. Steady has no ads or third-party advertising analytics. Optional AI personalization is off until you choose it and sends a limited behavior summary—not your name, notes, contacts, reasons, Android Shield choices, or written plans. ALWAYS FREE The emergency Pause, prepared response, letter to yourself, trusted-person message, check-in, settings, and full data deletion remain free. STEADY PLUS An optional subscription unlocks personalized daily plans, Android Shield, the full lesson library, and private progress. Exact pricing, billing period, and any trial are shown before purchase. Manage or cancel through Google Play. Steady provides educational self-help. It does not diagnose or treat any medical or mental health condition and is not an emergency service. If you may harm yourself or someone else, contact local emergency services or a trusted person who can stay with you.
