Full description
Real or rendered? Know in seconds — without uploading anything. ClipCheck estimates whether a video was AI-generated or captured by a real camera, and it does the whole analysis on your phone. Pick a video, or share one to ClipCheck from any app, and you get a 0–100 AI-likelihood score, a confidence level, and a plain-language list of the forensic evidence behind it. NOTHING LEAVES YOUR PHONE — BY CONSTRUCTION Other video checkers upload your file to their servers. ClipCheck has no internet permission at all, so it cannot: not to a server, not to us, not to anyone. There is no account, no sign-up, and no limit on how many videos you check. It works in airplane mode. That matters most when it matters most. If someone has sent you a video of yourself, or of someone you know, verifying it should not mean handing that file to a stranger. With ClipCheck you are not trusting a deletion policy — you are using an app that has no way to send anything anywhere. FIVE INDEPENDENT SIGNALS No single reliable "AI detector" exists, so ClipCheck does what a forensic analyst does: it combines several independent lines of evidence and weighs them against each other. • Provenance and metadata — C2PA Content Credentials, 40+ generator signatures (Runway, Pika, Kling, Luma, Veo, Hunyuan and more), camera atoms, GPS tags and encoder fingerprints • Container structure — a real walk of the MP4 box tree, which catches provenance that was deliberately removed rather than merely absent • Spectral analysis — 2D FFT on native-resolution tiles, looking for spectra too flat to have come through a lens • Sensor noise — shot noise is independent per photosite; a residual that stays smooth in every direction was generated with the image, not captured with it • Temporal consistency — fine texture that regenerates between frames, the "boiling" characteristic of diffusion video Each finding is weighed as evidence, not counted as a vote. Several restatements of the same observation cannot outweigh one measurement from an independent line of enquiry, and confidence drops automatically when a file has been re-encoded or heavily compressed. IT ALSO READS THE FILE, NOT JUST THE PICTURE Most detectors only classify frames. ClipCheck also walks the video's container structure, which is how it spots provenance that was deliberately removed — a Content Credentials manifest blanked out leaves a distinctive scar behind, because deleting one properly would mean rebuilding the whole file. Sora and Veo now sign what they generate, and Leica, Sony, Nikon, Canon and Pixel cameras sign what they capture, so both the signature and the place one was scrubbed are real evidence. NO ACCOUNT, NO LIMITS, NO PERMISSIONS ClipCheck asks for no storage permission: video selection goes through the Android photo picker, so it only ever sees the one file you hand it. Nothing is collected, nothing is stored, nothing is sold. Check as many videos as you like. HONEST ABOUT WHAT IT CANNOT DO ClipCheck gives forensic guidance, not proof. No detector — including commercial ones — can be certain whether a video was AI-generated, especially after a social platform has re-encoded it. When the evidence is thin, ClipCheck says so and returns "Inconclusive" with a low confidence rating, rather than inventing a number. Every verdict ships with the evidence and the measurements behind it, so you can judge the reasoning yourself. Important: ClipCheck is an informational tool. It produces an estimate, not a determination, and it can be wrong in both directions — an authentic recording can look synthetic after heavy compression, and a generated video can pass every test. Do not rely on it as the sole basis for any decision with legal, journalistic, employment, financial or reputational consequences.

What's new

First release. ClipCheck estimates whether a video was AI-generated or captured by a real camera — provenance, container structure, spectral signature, sensor noise and frame-to-frame consistency, weighed together into a 0–100 score with the evidence behind it. It also tells you when a clip is a re-shared copy rather than the original file, and how to get one worth checking. Everything runs on-device. Your video never leaves your phone.
