Full description
Point your phone at any wine label and Cépaige tells you what it tastes like, what to eat with it, and — the part no other app answers — how well it matches your palate. AN AI THAT RESEARCHES, NOT A DATABASE THAT LOOKS UP Most wine apps are catalogues: useful for a famous Napa Cabernet, empty for the small-production Loire bottle in your hand. Cépaige runs an AI research agent for each wine, favouring producers' own tasting notes and reference sources, and builds a full profile: tasting notes, food pairings, varietal and region context. A SCORE THAT IS ABOUT YOU Every wine gets a match score predicting how much you will like it — and the score is always honestly labelled. "Based on your palate" once the app has learned you. "Cépaige users rate this…" before that. If you have already rated the exact wine, it shows your own rating instead of pretending to predict one. It starts working from your very first rating; casual star ratings are enough. A WINE JOURNAL THAT ACTUALLY GETS BUILT Ratings, private tasting notes, and your own tags — the occasion, who you were with, what you ate. Wishlist and Purchased lists. Scan a wine you have met before, or another vintage of it, or another bottle from the same producer, and that history surfaces before you decide. Bought a bottle on Tuesday and opened it on Saturday? Cépaige nudges you to rate it while you still have an opinion. SEARCH WITHOUT A BOTTLE IN HAND Type a name you read in a magazine and research it. Or ask in plain language — "something like the Barolo I loved, but lighter" — and get a ranked list matched to your taste. MENU MODE, AT THE TABLE Photograph the restaurant wine list, however many pages it runs to. Set your budget — one figure for by-the-glass, one for bottles — and filter by style. Wines Cépaige already knows show their match immediately; the rest fill in as research lands, and the screen settles into a short band of your best matches, each with a plain-language "why this?" and pairings for what you ordered. A wine you rated last spring shows your own number, above any prediction. Mark what the table is drinking, rate a glass the moment you have a view, and one consolidated prompt the next day catches whatever you missed. (Menu Mode is part of the Hobbyist tier.) PRIVATE BY CONSTRUCTION Your free-text tasting notes and personal tags are never shared and never sent to the AI — the pipeline does not include them. Where the AI does work, it works without your identity attached: no name, no email, no account ID is ever sent to an AI provider, and your data is never used to train AI models. Any contribution to shared wine data is opt-in, behind its own explicit toggle. No ads. NOTHING TO SELL YOU Cépaige is not a shop. No buy buttons, no retailer links, no affiliate commissions. The recommendation exists to be right, not to move inventory. And it never fakes certainty: no invented critic scores, no guessed prices, and a plain "we don't know yet" where the data is thin. PLANS Cépaige is free to download and starts with a 7-day free trial of the Curious tier. After that there are two plans, each billed monthly or annually: • Curious. Label scan, palate match, the full journal, 5-star ratings. • Hobbyist. Everything in Curious, plus Menu Mode, the 100-point wine-industry scale, structured tasting notes (Appearance, Nose, Palate, Finish), and a view of what the engine has learned about your palate. Current prices are shown in the app before you subscribe. Upgrading is lossless — your star ratings translate to the 100-point scale automatically. Wines Cépaige already knows are always free to look at; your research allowance is for wines nobody has asked about yet. Cépaige is for people who enjoy wine, not people who study it. Please drink responsibly.

What's new

Cépaige's first release. Scan any wine label for AI-researched tasting notes and food pairings, get a match score for your own palate, keep a private wine journal — and at the restaurant, photograph the wine list and let Menu Mode rank it against your taste and your budget.
