Full description
Draw a highlighter across your own textbook, then cover it with the red sheet and test yourself. The paper method, on PDFs and photographs. ■ On the page itself • Import a PDF, photograph the pages, or pick them from your library — they become one document • Draw the marker over the page — never flattened into an image, so the text stays sharp at any zoom • A rough stroke settles onto the words underneath — read from the PDF's text layer, or from a photograph by on-device recognition, never uploaded. "As drawn" keeps it where your hand put it • There is an underline too, for what you want marked but not hidden • Erase, reorder pages, add a page you missed later • Shelve each book as planned, in progress or done; the cover carries its mark count ■ The red sheet • Pull the sheet down and every marked run turns solid red — opaque, not a veil to read through • Step from one blank to the next, reveal the answer, say whether you had it • What you knew stops hiding, so the second pass is only what is still unknown • Choose how far a lap reaches — this page, this page onward, or the whole document • Turn on "Missed only" and the lap loops just what you got wrong; the header counts learned, missed and untested ■ The cards • Meaning, reading, part of speech, forms, synonyms, etymology, examples and your own note • Five Leitner boxes — a hit books the next review 1, 7, 14 then 30 days out, and the fifth graduates the card; a miss sends it back to the start • Any card can read itself aloud • Flip the direction, shuffle, or show only what is due • English headwords get Japanese meaning suggestions from the dictionary inside the app (offline) ■ It answers "did I study today" first • Streak, what you answered today and how much you got right, what is due, how many books • Mastery rate, and the last two weeks • Every number is a way back into the work ■ Memos • Written on a book or a deck, gathered on one board • Plain notes or checklists, five paper colours, long-press to reorder ■ Easy on the eyes, hour after hour • Four colour themes — deep navy, warm sand, dusty rose, sage • Light, dark, or follow the system • Six ways to read a page — off, sepia, dim, greyscale, night (inverted), auto — with a tint slider • Two ways to turn a page — scroll continuously, or swipe one page at a time • One book can read differently from the rest • 한국어 · English · 日本語 · 简体中文 · 繁體中文 ■ Sync between your devices — part of Unlock Everything • Pick a storage location — iCloud or Google Drive — and your books, marks, decks, cards and memos carry across • The default is "This device only" — choose nothing and nothing leaves • The original PDFs and photographs go up too, from the start — they use your own cloud storage, and one switch stops them • No server of ours: it lives in your own cloud account, where we cannot open it • The study log — streak and charts — stays with each device ■ Travelling light • No account with us — only your own iCloud or Google account, and only for sync • No ads • With sync off, your books, marks and cards are on this device only • The dictionary ships inside the app and works with no connection ■ What it costs Bring in as many books as you like, free. The marker holds a hundred marks at a time, and erasing one hands its slot back. Unlock Everything — a single purchase, not a subscription — lifts that limit and opens sync to your own cloud. Books, cards, decks, speech and the dictionary are unlimited from the start. Dictionary data is derived from JMdict/EDICT (© Electronic Dictionary Research and Development Group) and used under the EDRDG licence. The full text is in Settings → Sources & Licences. ■ What people use it for • Vocabulary for language exams and coursework • Terminology in scanned lecture PDFs • Revising a problem set shot from a paper workbook • One library on phone and tablet, backed up to your own cloud
