Full description
Birders spend their days with their heads down in their phones. BirdScribe fixes that. Tap record, say what you see, tap stop. It handles the rest. Eyes up, birds in. HOW IT WORKS Speak naturally. "Five rainbow lorikeets flying over." BirdScribe saves your words, logs where you were and when, suggests the species, and turns it into an observation you can check with one tap. At the end of your birding session you get a CSV file formatted for import into eBird, with names matching the eBird/Clements checklist, so you are not retyping your day into a form. BUILT ON ONE RULE The app suggests. You confirm. Nothing is saved as a species without you tapping to agree, and an uncertain observation stays uncertain rather than being quietly upgraded to a guess. Your name goes on that checklist, so the data should be yours. IN THE FIELD Voice capture that keeps your eyes on the bird Pocket Mode, so the phone can go in your pocket screen-on without stray taps logging anything Sound bites analysed for species suggestions using BirdNET Type a species instead of speaking when you need to stay quiet, with suggestions that work with no signal at all Location and timing recorded as you go Counts, heard-only records, breeding notes, ages and sexes Merge, correct or delete an observation without losing the original Private field notes that stay on your phone and never leave it WHEN THE SIGNAL DROPS Your words are saved before anything else happens. Coverage is optional. Nothing is lost because you lost phone signal. FREE No account. No subscription. No ads. Built by working bird guides in Tropical North Queensland. CREDITS Sound identification uses BirdNET, developed by the K. Lisa Yang Center for Conservation Bioacoustics at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and Chemnitz University of Technology, used here under its non-commercial licence. Species names follow the eBird/Clements checklist. BirdScribe is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, eBird, or BirdLife Australia. eBird is a trademark of Cornell University.

What's new

New in this build: - Back up to your own Google Drive and restore on a new phone - Weather added to your eBird checklist comments - "Present" logs X; "calling" logs heard only, 1 - Say "take note" for a trip note, or "note" for an eBird comment on the last bird - Select all and delete on Trips and Learned names - Your region asks to switch when you travel - Subspecies like Pied Wagtail now auto-log - Region fixes for English counties and Australia
