Beam - Culture

We decided to create an app to help you organize and share all your cultural recommendations with your friends. Basically, it's about replacing your phone notes that keep piling up, screenshots lost in your photos, and your (and our) potentially faulty memory with an app that's both a to-do list and a cultural social network. Oh, and when we say "cultural," it might sound old-fashioned, but we're really talking about your favorite movies, series and books to start... with music, podcasts, YouTube channels, concerts, shows, exhibitions, museums and more to come! Beam is a free app because, for us, culture is about sharing and creating connections. We want to be as inclusive as possible so that everyone can enjoy it. We're aiming to develop an ethical and useful app that respects you and doesn't make you addicted for the wrong reasons (hello, Silicon Valley social networks). In short, an app dedicated to culture and your love of it. 🫶 Since artists want to create emotions and don't expect us to grade their work like in school, we've ditched the stars and are developing an emotions based system to attach to your favorite content. As you've probably guessed, we intend to do things differently and operate with total transparency. We also want to evolve the product as much as possible based on your feedback, so we're counting on you to participate in this co-creation. PS: "We" are Pierre & Joe (with help from Sharon, Lou, and Arthur too). I'm French, and Joe is American. Together, we're trying to contribute a little to the planet by connecting people through culture. And with your help, we're going to push the concept as far as possible! ----- Now that introductions are out of the way, here's a quick rundown of where we're at and our upcoming features: 🔎 SEARCH Find all your favorite movies, TV shows, and books directly in the app. 🗂️ YOUR LISTS Organize your content by status: - Want to watch/read - Watched/read - Favorites (= Beam) We've also created a "hot" status (= priority) for all the content you want to experience ASAP (so it stays up front). 💬 NEWSFEED Find out all your friends Beam content ! --- 🚀 NEXT STEP September : ✅ Added the ability to share content outside the app. ✅ Added aggregation of emotions on the newsfeed and content page. 🏗️ New "Tops" section And of course, we have plenty more exciting ideas up our sleeves, but we don't want to get ahead of ourselves! :) Thanks for reading this far! We can't wait to hear your feedback. Drop us a line at [email protected] ! See you soon, Pierre & Joe ✌️
