Altarab: Oud, Maqam & Qanun

Altarab (الطرب, عود) is an app to learn the oud, the Arabic maqamat and Arabic music. Oud simulator, qanun (kanun), ney, kaman (violin), buzuq, santur, guitar and piano with quarter tones, darbuka rhythms, sheet music, and maqam recognition with your microphone. ARABIC MAQAMAT Learn the maqamat, their ajnas, their intervals and how to move between them. Listen to each maqam and try it on a virtual keyboard. OUD SIMULATOR AND INSTRUMENTS Practise on a virtual oud and explore the note positions and quarter tones. Try the sounds of the qanun, ney, kaman, piano, buzuq, santur and guitar. PLAY WITH SHEET MUSIC Follow the score with the finger positions on the oud, and browse the song library by artist, maqam or genre. ARABIC RHYTHMS (IQA'AT) Listen to the rhythms and practise them with interactive rhythm tools and sounds such as the darbuka, riq and daf. OUD TUNER AND INSTRUMENT TUNER An accurate chromatic tuner that listens through your microphone: tune your oud, guitar, violin, qanun and any instrument, with quarter-tone support and an adjustable metronome. ORIENTAL KEYBOARD AND PIANO Play the maqamat on an oriental keyboard (Arabic organ) and a piano with quarter tones, and hear every maqam before you play it. LISTENING AND PRACTICE TOOLS Use the microphone to track your pitch and help recognise the maqam, and record your playing to get feedback. Interface in Arabic and English. Practise at your own pace.
