Jaga Jiran. Care for your your neighbour. JagaJiran turns an old Malaysian instinct into action. It is the field companion of Doctors on Ground (DnG), a Malaysian non-governmental organisation started by doctors, nurses, and everyday volunteers who kept meeting the same hard truth: help existed, but it did not always arrive in time. This app helps community volunteers find people who need support and make sure that support actually reaches them — with care, with honest records, and with follow-up that does not get forgotten. HOW IT WORKS A Community Health Navigator (CHN) notices a need on their street and records the case. A Case Management Team (CMT) coordinator reviews it, confirms it, and sets it moving. Real volunteers are matched to real cases, one door at a time, one neighbourhood at a time, across Malaysia. WHO IT IS FOR JagaJiran is built for the hands of trained community volunteers and coordinators: • Community Health Navigators (CHN) — volunteer field workers • Case Management Team (CMT) — coordinators and supervisors Accounts are verified by phone number, and certain roles require approval before access. This is a tool for organised, accountable community care — not a public directory. WHAT YOU CAN DO • Register community members in need and capture case details safely • Review, approve, assign, and schedule cases • Coordinate visits and follow-ups so nothing falls through the cracks • Exchange real-time field notes between volunteers and coordinators • Attach supporting documents and photos to a case • Track community programs and events • Switch between English and Bahasa Melayu (volunteer screens) PRIVACY AND SECURITY COME FIRST JagaJiran is operated under the Malaysian Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA). • Personal and health information is collected only with informed, time-stamped consent, and only to coordinate the specific case it belongs to. • Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest on Google Cloud infrastructure. • Server-side security rules ensure a record is readable only by the volunteer or coordinator assigned to that case. • Sign-in uses phone-number verification — the app stores no passwords. • There are no advertisements, no third-party tracking, and no selling of data. The app does not read the device advertising identifier. • Accounts and their data can be deactivated or permanently deleted from inside the app. ABOUT DOCTORS ON GROUND (DnG) DnG was started by people who could not look away.
