Full description
Plan where to watch the total solar eclipse on August 12, 2026. Sunset Eclipse lets you explore locations and simulate in 3D how the eclipse will look from each place, taking the actual terrain into account. The eclipse will cross Greenland, Iceland and Spain. In many areas, the Sun will be very low above the horizon, so a mountain or ridge can completely change what you see from relatively nearby locations. EXPLORE LOCATIONS • Browse a selection of viewpoints prepared for the eclipse. • Search for towns or choose any other point directly on the map. • View the path of totality and explore different areas along its route. SIMULATE THE ECLIPSE IN 3D • Explore the landscape and horizon using actual terrain data. • Move through time from first contact to sunset. • See how the Sun’s position changes during the eclipse. • Check how the terrain may affect visibility from each location. COMPARE AND PLAN • Check the local time, duration and altitude of the Sun. • Compare nearby locations before deciding where to watch. • Save your own viewpoints. • Share locations with other people. A PERSONAL PROJECT Sunset Eclipse was created by an independent developer to answer one specific question: where should you watch the eclipse when the Sun will be so close to the horizon? The app provides a simulation based on astronomical calculations and terrain data. Trees, buildings and small variations in the horizon may not be represented. If a location is important to you, check the surroundings in person beforehand.
