Το σύστημα eHive παρέχει μια ολοκληρωμένη λύση παρακολούθησης ποιότητας της κυψέλης χαμηλού ενεργειακού αποτυπώματος, η οποία παρακολουθεί τις περιβαλλοντικές συνθήκες εντός και εκτός κυψελών, ενώ παρακολουθεί και την ποιότητα των κυψελών οδηγώντας στην έγκαιρη διάγνωση τυχόν ασθενειών που μπορεί να εμφανιστούν στην κυψέλης. Περιλαμβάνει αισθητήρες και αναμεταδότες χαμηλής ενέργειας εγκατεστημένοι στις κυψέλες, ενώ ασύρματα πρωτόκολλα χαμηλής ισχύος, χαμηλού κόστους και μακράς εμβέλειας, συλλέγουν τα δεδομένα κάθε αισθητήρα και τα μεταδίδουν σε ένα σύστημα πληροφοριών cloud, όπου πραγματοποιείται ανάλυση δεδομένων σε πραγματικό χρόνο και ειδοποιήσεις αποστέλλονται στους παραγωγούς μέσω της εφαρμογής eHive για κινητές συσκευές. Η διασύνδεση του μελισσοκόμου με τις υπηρεσίες eHive πραγματοποιείται μέσω του eHive app, μια εφαρμογή για κινητα τηλέφωνα, προσφέροντας: α) αυτοματοποιημένες υπηρεσίες πληροφοριών που παρακολουθούν την κατάσταση των κυψελών και αποικιών. β) υπηρεσίες εποπτείας της κυψέλης αλλά και της παραγωγής μελιού με προειδοποιήσεις, προτάσεις και προβλέψεις, γ) καταγραφή των παρεμβάσεων του μελισσοκόμου εντός της αποικίας (όσον αφορά τις διατροφικές περιπτώσεις ή ασθένειες).
