Dinoscope covers the best-known dinosaurs of the Mesozoic era, from theropod predators such as Tyrannosaurus and Velociraptor to sauropods, horned and armoured ornithischians and duck-billed hadrosaurs, with each entry giving size, period, diet, distinguishing anatomy and where the fossils were found. A third section explains the three periods, Pangaea, the end-Cretaceous extinction, fossilisation, dating methods, feathers, the bird connection and the major fossil sites. Entries were compiled from published palaeontological descriptions, museum catalogues and review articles; size and age figures are rounded estimates that vary between studies and are updated as new specimens are described. The app works fully offline. It is a general reference for curious readers and students, not a scientific database.
