Speed matters in mental maths, but so does confidence, and a child who is not ready for the clock can switch it off entirely. After every session, a full review shows each question, the child's answer, and the correct one. Mistakes become the lesson. Short, repeatable sessions are how fluency is built. A few minutes a day beats an hour once a week.
